INTERPOOLS 2022 – GROUP A : NATIONAL – OLYMPIQUE ENDS IN DEAD RUBBER

Two games were scheduled at the Limbe Middle Farms stadium on Monday, September 12, before a jam-packed population, and the game pitting Olympique Meiganga (Adamawa) against National FC (North) didn’t disappoint as the early kick-off.

National FC, North representatives came from two nil down to equalize and even tried winning the game at the end of added on time in the second half.


After a couple of missed chances by coach Dieudonne Babassou’s National FC, it was Olympique of Meiganga that took the lead, totally against the run of play.

Alfred Houandja perfectly placed on the plate for Oumarou Herman who netted at the 20th minute. Meiganga continued with their momentum, and 14th minutes after their first goal, they got a penalty. It was National FC’s Blaise Daina Patale whose tackle brought down Dogmo Felix, and Oumarou Herman stepped up to send goalkeeper Atokari the wrong way, completing his first half brace.


National FC scored at the cusp of halftime to restore hope. Lack of concentration from Olympique Meiganga’s defense, led them concede a sheepish foul around the area. The ball was deliciously whipped in by the left foot of Frederick Dawai, and Barka Amrakai waited at the back post to nod in for 2-1.


National FC continued exploring in the second half, and got the equalizer after the hour mark courtesy Stanislas Madi’s effort. Despite enormous pressure to try and get the winner, Olympique Meiganga’s defense stayed compact, to end the game two-all. The two teams opened their campaign with a draw in group A.
