FIFA consoles FECAFOOT on death of Executive Committee Member

The President of the World’s football governing body FIFA has extended words of consolation to the Cameroon Football Federation FECAFOOT following the death of Samuel Wembe, member of the Executive Committee.

In a letter “In Memory of Samuel Wembe” addressed to the President of FECAFOOT on Tuesday April 14, 2020, Gianni Infantino noted that he got the sad news of Samuel Wembe’s demise over the weekend at a time the world is going through tragic circumstances.

“Member of the Executive Committee of FECAFOOT, passionate and committed football leader, former President of RC Bafoussam, President of the Wouri Divisional football league and of the West Regional league, football player, entrepreneur and politician, there is no doubt with such commitment and dedication he would contributed to the growth and development of football in his country. He won’t be forgotten and will be missed by all.” FIFA President writes

While expressing the wish that his words of consolation be a source of peace and comfort at this time, Gianni Infantino concludes “On behalf of the international football community, I would like to express our deepest sympathy to the Cameroon Football Federation, to your Executive Committee, as well as to the family, friends and relatives of Samuel Wembe. Our thoughts are with you all.”

Late Samuel Wembe died on Sunday April 12, 2020 after a period of illness. While announcing his death, the President of FECAFOOT Seidou Mbombo Njoya described him as a “remarkable manager.”
