Augustine Ejangue: The tenacious defense lady

Augustine Ejangue, of name Augustine Silvia Ejangue Siliki is a Cameroonian footballer who currently plays as a defender for the Norwegian club Arna-Bjornar and the Cameroon women’s National team.

Born on January 19, 1989, Ejangue is one of the lionesses who have played in many clubs, both National and international.

She began her professional career in 2005 with Sawa United club, Douala. In 2006, she moved on to Ngondikam Douala club, where she did two years. In 2008, Augustine left the country for Aguilas Verdes, Spain, where she spent three years.

In 2010, she came back to the country and joined Franck Rollycek club. In 2011, a Russian speaking agent is said to have secured her a transfer to Energiya Voronezh. Unfortunately for her, her time there was interrupted by malaria she contracted while back in Cameroon.

From there, Augustine signed for FK Rossiyanka, then Tyreso FF, from there she signed for Amazone Grimstad, Fortuna Hjorring and Santa Teresa CD.

Concerning her achievements, Ejangue an Afcon runner-up for 2014, 2016 and 2018, UEFA Women’s Premier League quarter final in 2012/13, Russian women’s Premier League 2nd place which earned her a silver medal in 2012/13, Olympic Games London Final Tournament participant in 2012, Cameroon cup winner and Equatorial Guinea champion.

For the year 2019, Augustine Ejangue has been selected to represent Cameroon at the June women’s world cup.
