2022 FIFA WCQs:Indomitable Lions arrive home to plan for Elephants fixture
The Cameroon delegation that traveled to South Africa for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier game against the Flames of Malawi and won by 4-0, courtesy goals from Vincent Aboubakar, Zambo Anguissa and a brace from Christian Bassogog has returned home.
According to the team’s communications unit, Coach António Conceiçao and his team arrived the Douala International Airport at 1AM on board a Camairco Aircraft and immediately moved to their base at the Best Western Hotel.
The Lions manifested finesse in Saturday’s match-day five fixture, scoring twice in each half in what many have termed the kicker ahead of the big game against Ivory Coast.
Though Cameroonians are all focused on the game against the group D leaders, they are enjoying the latest result and hope the team have a similar efficiency this Tuesday.
Indomitable Lions players on arrival
The 25 players are expected to train together on Sunday evening and on Monday in preparations for Tuesday’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Ivory Coast.
Cameroon currently occupies the second spot in Group D of the qualifiers with 12 points, a point behind the Elephants of Ivory Coast who lead the group by a point going into the final game on November 16.
The winner of group D will move to the final and Play-offs round of the qualifiers against another group winner in a two legged encounter to determine a team to take one of Africa’s five spots at the 2022 FIFA World Cup Tournament penciled for November-December in Qatar.
