2021AFCONQ: Indomitable Lions Upbeat for Blue Sharks
Cameroon have arrived in Praia, the venue for their day five 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier tie with the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde on Friday.
Visitors Cameroon are leaders of Group F with 10 points. The Central African giants need at least one point against bottom-placed Cape Verde to cement their lead and conquest.
Upon arrival on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, coach António Conceição’s squad dove into Covid-19 testing formalities. The checks were supervised by local health authorities, in collaboration with Cameroon’s medical staff head, William Ngachu.
The 25-man Indomitable Lions squad will rehearse once this Thursday afternoon at the Estádio Nacional de Cabo Verde.
“When we are with the national team, the goal is to win and that’s what gets us here. We’re on a good run and it’s up to us to try to do well in the FIFA rankings. All games are important to us,” said striker Vincent Aboubakar.
The squad complete its international duty for the current FIFA window at home to Rwanda on Tuesday, March 30. It will be the Indomitable Lions’ first official game at the newly constructed Japoma stadium in Douala, the economic capital of Cameroon.
