CHAN 2020: Lions coach urges players to remain concentrated despite postponement
The Coach of the Intermediate Lions of Cameroon Yves Clement Arroga has urged his players to remain concentrated despite the postponement of the African Nations championship CHAN Cameroon 2020 initially scheduled for April 4-25.
Speaking to the players in camp at the CAF excellence center in Mbankomo just shortly after the release of CAF’s decision to postpone the tournament, the coach noted that preparations have been going on but the postponement also offers an opportunity to correct lots of issues.
“This postponement offers us the opportunity to handle other issues in our preparation so as to achieve our objective of winning the competition.” Arroga said
Deputy trainer Emmanuel Ndumbe Bosso corroborated adding that while waiting for further instructions from concerned authorities, work has to go on to ensure that the team is ready at any time the competition is announced.
The players played a training match amongst themselves at the CAF excellence center Mbankomo stadium for the day’s training session. They had earlier been involved wirh Medicals and friendly matches as they prepared for the tournament in the ongoing fifth preselection training camp.
CAF announced the postponement of the April 2020 CHAN on Tuesday March 17, 2020 following the continues spread of the coronavirus which has now been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation WHO.
