Cameroon football season to kick off Friday with a night fixture on schedule

A ceremony to mark the official kickoff of the 2019-2020 football season in Cameroon has been scheduled for Friday October 18 at the Amadou Adhijo Stadium in Yaoundé.

According to the President of the Professional Football League Transitional Technical Committee, Aboubakar Alim Konate, Friday’s event will feature a parade of all participating clubs, some performances, the opening fixture for the Women’s Football Championship and the grand opener for the Professional Football League pitting Colombe of Dja et Lobo against Bambotous of Mbouda, expected to be a night fixture.

Alim Konate admits that though much has been done to provide the football loving public of Cameroon with beautiful football this season, there is need to finetune a few issues to ensure a successful beginning and put in place a strategy that will manange possible challenges. He notes that the executive committee of the Cameroon Football Federation -FECAFOOT has conferred the responsibility of organising the league to the Transitional Technical Committee and they are ready to deliver.

While the professional football league has been working to ensure a smooth competition, the Women’s Football League under the leadership of Madam Celine M. Eko has been at work since commissioning.

A calendar published by the Women’s Football League confirms that Canon of Yaounde will take on newly promoted Vision Sport FC of Bamenda to mark the official kickoff of the Women’s Football Championship same day ahead of the big fixture for the Professional Football Leaugue.

With the success recorded by the Champions Trophy in the Kouekong stadium Sunday October 14, Alim Konate says Friday league’s opener promises lots of fanfare and entertainment. Missing it will not certainly be an option for a true football lover.
