The Executive Committee Bureau of the Cameroon Football Federation FECAFOOT has announced a definite end to the 2019-2020 football season. The decision was reached Tuesday May 12, 2020 at the close of a video conference which had as main objective the examination and way forward for the current situation of football competitions in Cameroon within the context of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the decision signed by the President of the Cameroon Football Federation FECAFOOT Seidou Mbombo Njoya, the definite end decision was reached after several consultations. First the release indicate was that by the Executive Committee Bureau, government authorities, the Cameroon Women’s Football League, the Cameroon Youth Football League and the ten regional leagues. Secondly the release adds that just before the bureau meeting, there was an enlagred meeting of the Transitional Technical Committee with the President of FECAFOOT, the Trade Union of Cameroon Elite Teams, (SYCEC), Cameroon National Footballers Trade Union SYNAFOC, and the medical and security commissions of FECAFOOT all in a video conference to get a clear view of the way forward for the Elite One and Two professional championships.

It is after these consultations that the Executive Committee Bureau resolved to put an end to the 2019-2020 for the Elite One, Elite Two, the Women’s football first division championship and the National youth football championships.

The cancellation of regional, divisional and subdivisional championships as well as the Women’s second division for the 2019-2020 season is another decision arrived at.

As a result and following dispositions of the Elite One rules and regulations for the 2019-2020 season, “the team ranked first for the Elite One professional championship is the 2019-2020 champions and shall represent Cameroon at the CAF Champions league.” The release states adding that clubs ranked 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th that were to be relegated will be maintained in the Elite One for next season.

For the Elite Two Championship following the rules and regulations, the release states that the first and second ranked teams will be promoted to the Elite One professional championship while the 13th and 14th team due relegation will be maintained in the Elite Two for the next season.

The Women’s First Division Championship tittle goes to the the top ranked team while the 10th, 11th and 12th ranked teams are maintained in the championship for next season.

In a Homologation decision for the Elite One professional championship signed by the Secretary General of FECAFOOT Benjamin Didier Banlock and published just shortly after the announcement of the end of the season, PWD social Club of Bamenda tops the classification table with 49points and consequently are Champions for the season.
