Marie Aurelle Awona, an epitome of polyvalence
The international soccer player is one of the most polyvalent players of the indomitable lionesses who has the abilities to play as left lateral and at the axis.
Born on February 2, 1993 in Yaounde, the Franco-Cameroonian International defence player arrived France at the age of 6.
Awona grew up and report say she could have chosen to play for France internationally, since she was a part of the France U19 team, but instead chose to represent Cameroon at senior level.
From 2001-2004, she played for l’US Fontenay-sous-Bois. She then moved to L’US Cergy clos club from 2004 to 2005 and did two years at Endin du Cergy-Pontoise FC.
From 2007 to 2009, Awona signed for FC Domont, where she played about 14 matches in Division III.
From 2009 to 2018, she signs for Le Mans Union Club 72, l’ASJ Soyaux3, and Dijon, France, her current club.
Meantime, Marie Awona joins the U16 French team in 2009 and moves to the U19 team from 2011 to 2012.
She later joins the Cameroon National football team with whom she plays during the country’s first participation at a world cup in Canada.
In the days ahead, she will be travelling to France with her team mates for the 2019 Women’s wold cup in France.
