Lionesses bow to Netherlands in second group game
Cameroon’s indomitable lionesses have recorded another loss, 3-0 against their second group opponent the Netherlands, a defeat that takes them far away from round 16.
The hopes and aspirations of the few Cameroonians who gathered at the stade HAINAUT, Valenciennes earlier this afternoon and those in Cameroon on their team’s win were chattered after the lionesses conceded a new defeat.
They proved alert in the first half as Onguene swiftly responded to Netherland’s Miedema first goal recorded at the 41’ and spanked hers at the 43’.
The second half was the most difficult for the lionesses. In between faults committed and other defence problems, the Netherland girls benefitted from moments of inattentiveness and spanked two goals, the first at the 47’ by Dominique Bloodworth and Miedema came back at the 85’.
With this second defeat, the lionesses’ chances to go in for round 16 in the ongoing FIFA Women’s world cup has considerably reduced.
If they hope to continue, not only will they have to win New Zealand, but they have to hope that the third teams in other group stages have less points.
