Charlene Meyong Menene, the discreet but dreadful lioness

Crowned best player during this year’s Cameroon women’s tournament, Loves Minproff’s captain, is well known for her careful game style and her alertness when it comes to free kicks.

Charlene Iverna Meyong Menene was born on 19 November, 1998, in Cameroon. She is a Cameroonian footballer who plays as a midfielder for Louves Minproff Yaounde and the Cameroon women’s national team.

Meyong has played in the All Africa games, the COSAFA tournament, the AFCON and the Military world cup making the world cup and Olympic Games the only tournaments she is still to experience with country.

In 2016, Menene could not be part of the squad that represented Cameroon at the AFCON hosted by Cameroon. She got her right femur fractured while playing against Jeunesse Sportive at the eight finals of the Cameroon Cup, three weeks to the AFCON.

Reports say many suffered of her absence at the competition, especially her coach, Carl Enow Ngachou who was reportedly inconsolable.

Having been healed from her wound, Menene played during the 2018 AFCON in Ghana and reportedly contributed greatly in Cameroon’s qualification for the 2019 World cup, competition in which she has been called up to take part in.
