Elite One Title Battle: Apejes Beat Fortuna To Edge Closer
Apejes of Mfou have made a strong claim for the 2020-2021 Cameroon Elite One title following their 2-1 victory over AS Fortuna. The centre derby took place on Sunday 19 September at the Omnisport Annex stadium in Yaounde.
Apejes’ goals came from Ngom Bekeli and Efouet Julius while Mballa scored AS Fortuna’s consolatory goal.
The result means Apejes are in for the title decider. They await the winner of the second play-off between Fovu and Coton Sport, coming up on Wednesday 22 September.
Coached by Ndongo Emma, Apejes finished second to 15-time champions Coton Sport in Pool B of the championship.
In the relegation play-offs, Eding Sport de la Lekié defeated Tonnèrre Kalara Club (TKC) 3-2 to stay afloat. TKC return to the second tier championship.
