NATIONAL INTERPOOLS 2022: NGV ATOP GROUP A, HILLTOP AND NKOFU UNDECIDED

It will be edge of the seat moments when Nkufo FC and Hilltop Strikers step out for their last group stage matches on September 20.

The two sides faced-off this Sunday, September 18 – but there was no winner as the game ended one-all, perhaps, with 10-man Nkufo, the happier.

Junior Meke was handed a matching order in the first half due to a tackle adjudged to be career threatening by the referee, but that didn’t stop the Center representatives from taking the lead. ‘on fire’ Franky Manga’s header at the hour mark meant the numerical disadvantage didn’t count for much.  Frankfy has had a hand in three of his team’s goals since the start of the competition.

After the pose, coach Ngwa Remy and his charges needed to respond and they needed to do it real quick. A quick build up led to Ngwainbi Francis netting at the 48th minute. That was pretty much that, as the two teams now have destiny in their own hands. Hilltop Strikers are on 5 points; 1 win and two draws, with Nkufo on four; one win, one draw and one defeat after three match days. The last games will be a decider, with Hilltop taking on already qualified NGV. Nkufo equally pits Olympique of Meiganga, who have nothing to fight for in the competition, but for some pride, perhaps!

NGV are out in a league of their own as the only side remaining in the competition with a hundred percent record –  after they defeated National FC of Garoua on September 18, at the middle farms Stadium, by four clear goals.

Last to arrive the competition? Well, NGV are fairing just well with their latest 4-0 victory over National, which at the same time, ended any glimmer of hope National had, in making it through to the Elite Two.

Georges Stephane Makoun bagged home a double, with the first of two goals coming at the 34th minute.

A team goal with fine artistry and technique, NGV was ready for more but not until the end of the first half.

Georges Makoun once more hit the net before go-to-guy Wilfried Nana scored the game’s fourth  at the 65th minute, which coincidentally turned out to be his third of the competition.

Oscar Claude Etoga landed the ‘coup de grace’ at the 87th minute, to consolidate NGV’s lead and keep them atop group A with 9 points from 3 games, 11 goals scored and one conceded.
