NATIONAL INTERPOOLS 2022: VICTORIA UNITED, AJAX MAROUA MOVE SEPARATE WAYS AS CLIMAX NEARS

Teams in group B played two games at the state of the art Limbe omnisport stadium on Tuesday September 13, with FC Ebolowa getting her first tourney victoy, and Aigle of Moungo, holding Victoria United to a zero-all tie.

Both results on the day had an impact in the group, with Ajax Maroua now looking down and out. The Far North representatives conceded two second half goals against FC Ebolowa, who drew themselves back into contention for an MTN Elite Two ticket.

South representatives – FC Ebolowa broke the deadlock with a scrappy goal at the 62nd minute through centre-forward, Jean Louis Deshanel. Second half substitute, Patrick Fouda was set in motion with an intricate pass from Tsami Loic, and then his shot went in, off the upright for 2-0 to the Westerners. It was FC Ebolowa’s first three points in the competition, while things continue to turn sour for coach Abdoul Samadi’s Ajax of Maroua.

Victoria United shared the spoils with fellow group B juggernauts, Aigle of the Moungo in the late kick-off at 4 pm.

For a side that was clinical and rampant in their opening day — 5-1 demolition of Ajax Maroua, Victoria United looked a shadow of their former selves, squandering opportunities, including hitting the bar at the 55th minute, courtesy Midodo Chiani.

Aigle of Moungo entered the competition with a fair score card (0-0) after they were on standby on match day one. Victoria United now counts a win and a draw, while FC Ebolowa follows with one win in two outings. Aigle Royal of Moungo have a point and a game less, and then, there’s Ajax Maroua, that remains in search of their first point after two games.

The competition continues on Wednesday September 14th, with games in group A scheduled for the Limbe Centenary stadium.
