CHAN 2020: Lions’ fill their glass in serenity

In less than a week, the Intermediate national football team of Cameroon will face their counterparts from Zimbabwe in the opener of the sixth African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Yaounde.

Ahead of the opening fixture, the Intermediate Indomitable Lions are steadying their ship with tact, serenity and optimism. Generally, it is a conducive and lively atmosphere at the CAF Excellence Centre in Mbankomo, outskirts of the political city.

Whether on the training pitch or in the corridors of their hotel, the ambiance translates the fact that, despite the challenges, theirs is a glass half full and not half empty. They are poised to see light at the end of the tunnel.

Meanwhile, after a health incident he suffered during the final preparatory game on Thursday 7th January 2021 at Omnisport Annex One Stadium, Christian Mayo is responding to treatment and under the watchful eyes of medical staff. Everyone else is alive and kicking on the line of duty.

After an avalanche of preparatory games, coach Martin Ndtoungou Mpile and his collaborators are engaging the team in last minute dos and don’ts; drawing inspiration from the good, and not the bad side of the buildup.
