The U-23 male National Football Team has intensified training ahead of their first leg AFCON qualification match against Tunisia on Friday September 6 in Yaoundé. The team that has been in training since August 20 has undergone changes while working on different technical aspects.

Speaking to the FECAFOOT media team after training Wednesday September 4, Coach Rigobert Song said the relationship between the foreign and local players has been cordial.

“I can tell you that we are not 100 per cent ready but we have everything that we need. All the players have come and the ambiance is very good.” He said. A few days to the match, the coach says they have been working on scoring goals and being able to defend. “My interest is to be able to score first and protect the goal. We are working on our goalkeepers so that contribute strongly in protecting our goal post.” Rigobert Song noted

While working ahead of Friday’s game, the coach is already looking at the return leg in Tunisia.

“We hope that the good atmosphere in the team should continue so we can be ready for the return leg match. For us the second match is very important and it is the perfect match for us to give our all and we will do that.” He added. The team will be together till September 11 after their home and away matches against Tunisia U23 on September 6 and 11 respectively.

The game against Tunisia U23 comes after the cancellation of two earlier fixtures against Sierra Leone. Cameroon qualified for the second round after beating Chad 4-1 on aggregate.
