Two clubs have been gifted the envious position of opening the league that has often acted as a reservoir to the national team and the world at large, names like Ojong Mark, Marcus Mukake and a cue of fine users of the ball have been taken their very first touches in the Region.

Njalla Quann Sport Aacademy (NQSA) of Limbe pitting Ajax of Tiko is the very first game that would thrill the South West population. Ajax narrowly missed out on a spot in the mini-interpol, while NQSA has been a complete shadow of what they reflected in SW football, decades ago.

After met up with the Ajax staff last week, we took interest in Coach Edwin and his NQSA side, for the build up to the game.

The gaffer is excited with the start of the season- “as at now, I am excited because it is an impromptu call, despite the fact that, we were informed a week ago that the first day of play would be tomorrow, we had our doubts, because the license system was not opened-but attending this extraordinary G.A, and confirming we have to play tomorrow comes with excitement”. “We have been training and I am not scared of my opponents, though I know they would be coming back for vengeance, because of their heavy loss to Victoria United in last year’s opener”.

These two teams lost their opening games in last season’s opener, in humiliating fashion; NQSA lost to CUSA by a 5 goal to nil margin, while Ajax of Tiko lost by the same margin.
